Buck 2nd Floor Addition – From Dormer to Full Second Floor Suite
The Buck Addition is a great example of how a project can evolve as a client's vision grows. What began as a simple dormer conversion to add a bedroom for Gregory Buck's daughter gradually developed into a complete second-floor addition — one of the more complex home addition projects in Theta Homes portfolio.
The existing roof over the main portion of the house was removed entirely and replaced with a newly framed second floor. A circular staircase was added from the first-floor family room to provide access to the new level, which features a full bedroom suite with walk-in closet, bathroom, and a large lounge area.
A late-stage design change converted two bedroom windows into a French door with a Juliette balcony railing, which also solved a practical challenge — allowing larger furniture to be brought upstairs.
